SYNOPSIS
With Ohio’s Democratic primary approaching, charismatic Governor Mike Morris (George Clooney) appears to be a certain winner for the nomination against his rival, Senator Pullman (Michael Mantell). Morris’ principled press secretary, Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling), has faith in his candidate’s honesty and the electoral system. However, Meyers’ encounter with Pullman’s campaign manager (Paul Giamatti) and a flirtation with a young intern (Evan Rachel Wood) initiates circumstances that jeopardize Morris’ chances of winning the election.
